What is and isn’t covered
The Equipsme health insurance plan is about protecting you if the unexpected happens, and to help put things right. Brand new medical conditions are covered as long as they continue to respond to treatment but the plan won’t cover the Physiotherapy, Diagnosis or Treatment cost of any health problem that anyone included under the plan already had symptoms, whether or not you have received medication, advice or treatment for in the last three years – what we call “pre-existing conditions”.
Existing health conditions are covered when you use the private GP services and the health check.
We also don’t cover mental health conditions, chronic conditions, pregnancy and childbirth, and cancer.
However, members on cover Level 1 and 2 have cover up to the point at which cancer has been diagnosed so we can help find out what’s wrong fast.
Full details of our terms and conditions regarding what is and is not covered can be found in the Membership Handbook which is available via your portal/App login once a member of Equipsme, or on request. For more information about the plan please download our plan summary below.
How our excess works
Just like on your car or home insurance, on the Equipsme Diagnosis and treatment - level 2 plan there’s an excess to pay. That means that you pay the first £150 towards the total cost of your consultations, diagnosis or hospital treatment bill, once per person per plan year.
The remaining eligible treatment bill that has been authorised is paid for you and often directly to the treatment provider. You simply arrange your hospital visit through AXA Health as normal - always checking with them BEFORE you make an appointment that they will cover your consultation, tests or treatment.
Your AXA Health provider/hospital will then usually send you a bill for your excess amount after your first appointment.
