What We Do

Equipsme designs, distributes and administers health insurance and wellbeing plans for UK business customers only.

Equipsme plans include a regulated insurance element and non-insurance health and wellbeing services combined into a single bundled product.

Role of Equipsme and the Insurer

Equipsme plans contains two types of benefits. The first is treated as non-insurance services and the second is treated as insurance cover, for regulatory purposes.

The non-insurance elements of the Equipsme plan are provided by specialist third-party service providers appointed and managed by Equipsme. Non-insurance service providers may provide the following benefits:

  • Remote GP access and medical support services
  • Health testing and personalised health checks
  • Employee assistance programmes (EAPs) and wellbeing support services

These services are not insurance products and are not regulated insurance activities.

The insurance benefits of Equipsme plans are underwritten by AXA PPP Healthcare (trading as

AXA Health), such as for physiotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of health conditions and treatment by a dentist or an optician. Equipsme acts as agent of AXA Health under a Binding Underwriting Authority and is responsible for arranging and administering cover within agreed authority and for providing the non-insurance benefits contained within Equipsme plans.

Equipsme is not authorised to hold client money under the FCA Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS). Any insurance premiums are collected as agent of the insurer, under risk-transfer arrangements and are treated as received by the insurer when paid.

The insurer is separately authorised and regulated and is responsible for insurance risk and claims.

Who are Plans available to?

Equipsme plans are available only to UK businesses.

We do not sell policies to individual consumers, we do not provide regulated advice or recommendations, or review or compare products across the insurance market.

Distribution

Equipsme plans may be purchased directly from Equipsme or through an FCA-authorised insurance broker/intermediary. Where a broker/intermediary is involved, it is responsible for its own regulatory disclosures and any advice it provides.

Renumeration

Insurance premiums are set by AXA Health. Equipsme does not receive commission from AXA Health in respect of insurance premiums.

Equipsme receives income from the overall bundled plan price, which includes the insurance premium, charges for non-insurance services, and Equipsme’s administration and arrangement costs. Where applicable, brokers/intermediaries are remunerated by Equipsme, not by AXA Health.
