Equipsme’s Matthew Reed features in Health & Protection

Equipsme Managing Director Matthew Reed has been in the press again, featuring in leading health publication Health & Protection.

In a wide-ranging interview, Matthew covered Equipsme’s mission to widen participation in health insurance, the importance of direct to customer and broker distribution - and what the future might hold as Equipsme continues to grow and reflect customer needs.

In the article, Matthew explains how Equipsme was built from customer feedback, and importance of stripping back the user journey to be simple, smooth, jargon-free - and easy for organisations to understand, apply for and administrate digitally.

He also talked about our campaign to encourage more businesses to invest in whole of workforce solutions by getting rid of P11D tax.

Matthew said: “We did quite a bit of lobbying, but to get something like this to work, you have to show that they’ll make money by cutting taxes elsewhere. You can’t just say get rid of this because nobody will do that.”

“When we looked at it, we said if you got rid of P11D on cheap affordable benefits, you’re going to get it back in insurance premium tax because more people are going to buy insurance.”

Making health insurance easy and inclusive includes making it as easy as possible to buy. Equipsme can be purchased directly, or through brokers – a combination the article points out has led to a varied client list, from tiny organisations with a handful of staff embarking on health benefits for the first time, through to national corporations.
