Who are Equipsme?

  • Equipsme is a Managing General Agent, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, developing our own products with insurers and service providers. Read more about MGAs here.
  • We launched in 2018 with the aim to make business health insurance better. We think great businesses are powered by healthy people – and all of them deserve access to great health insurance and benefits. This means we can focus on being better value for money, being simpler to understand, and more practical to use.
  • We chose a mix of health benefits that we believe businesses really want and that help employees to stay well and work well, helping your business to run smoothly. The services we select to make up our plans are delivered by some of the biggest and most well-respected organisations in their field, so you really know you’re in safe hands
  • We act on behalf of insurers when promoting or administering any of the benefits in our plans. We don’t sell outside of the UK, and we don’t sell personal policies directly to consumers.
  • We’ll help you decide – but not tell you what to buy. We provide all the key information about what is and isn’t covered by our plans and can answer questions to help businesses decide what they want and need from an employee health insurance and wellbeing plan. We don’t review the whole market, so we can’t give recommendations or advice.

How is Equipsme different?

  • Equipsme is designed to fit the middle ground between traditional private medical insurance and a cashplan. Some intermediaries and HR Directors often refer to us as PMI lite.
  • We don’t cover cancer treatment which helps keep our prices responsible and sustainable. We also have other general exclusions (like many health insurance companies, such as exclusion of pre-existing, chronic or long-term conditions) please read more information here.
  • We have 4 easy to understand plans that all include a private GP service, a health check element and physio support. And depending on the plan chosen; private specialist diagnosis, associated private tests and scans and private treatment through an AXA health network of hospitals.
  • We allow employees to upgrade their plan benefits and/or add family by setting up a DD directly to us, removing admin for HR teams.

How do you keep your prices responsible and sustainable?

We’ve kept costs down through various ways including community-rating our services – and by removing the most expensive and unpredictable elements of private medical insurance, including cancer treatment and psychiatric cover. Instead, we help to get employees their early diagnosis, and they can return into the NHS for cancer surgery or therapy. Which can help businesses cover more employees for the everyday health issues that most impact them, and your business.

How do your plans work?

We listened to what employers and employees really wanted and designed our business health insurance plans around them. We’ve created employee health insurance plans with health benefits that help directly address the causes of 80% of sickness absences Our focus is on getting people a swift diagnosis and early intervention – getting people answers and then back up and running, fast. We’ve cut through the cost complexity of private medical insurance with one transparent price for all ages, aged 18 to 69, four easy to understand plan levels, and there are no upfront medical questionnaires as we exclude from physio, diagnosis and treatment cover any pre‑existing conditions that a person has had in the three years before their cover starts
