How Equipsme works: how to get mental health support

How Equipsme benefits work

If you’re looking at health benefits and insurance for your workforce for the first time, or if you’ve never come across a model like Equipsme before, it’s good to know how it all works in practice for the people at the sharp end – your workforce.

That’s why this guide shows how to use an Equipsme plan in real life, step-by-step.

A bit about us

Hi. We’re Equipsme. We thought health benefits and insurance should be better, and work for more people, so we built something different. We’re backed by AXA Health, so you know you’re in safe hands and getting the best care. We’ve just made it more affordable and more accessible.

At Equipsme, we LOVE the NHS - but there’s no pretending it isn’t under enormous pressure right now. Your Equipsme plan is here as your back-up plan, helping you beat the queues and get back to being fighting (and working) fit as soon as possible.

Unlike other health benefits and insurance, we actually want people to USE their plan. It’s not supposed to sit in your back pocket and do nothing. Which is exactly why we’ve put together these practical guides.

How to get mental health support

Mental health is becoming more of a priority for all of us, and less of a taboo. Employers can choose to add Equipsme’s Stress Support package to their group plan. It means you get access to an Employee Assistance Programme, and even face-to-face counselling sessions, for free.

How does the Employee Assistance Programme work?

The EAP provides information, support and counselling via a confidential telephone service which is available 24 hours a day. You can talk with the Stress Support team about worries and concerns regarding home or work issues, challenging situations or medical concerns. The team will direct you to the most appropriate support for your situation.

If you do have Stress Support on your plan, it will appear as a button on your portal or App. Click through to get the details.

How do face to face counselling sessions work?

If face to face counselling sessions are recommended to you by our service, these will be arranged in person or by telephone or video call, so you can get professional support to work something through. The Stress Support benefit includes up to 8 online or face to face counselling sessions per plan year.

Who provides the Stress Support?

Our Stress Support provider is Health Assured – a leading UK provider of telephone and face to face counselling support.

Can family members use Stress Support?

If they’re on your plan, yes, but do be aware that children must be aged over 16 to use it.
